Pplitics: People are begging me to join APC - Fayose

Fayose however said that he would not join the APC because some members had betrayed party leader, Bola Tinubu.

Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose has said that some people have been urging him to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Fayose however said that he would not join the APC because some members had betrayed party leader, Bola Tinubu.
According to a statement released by his spokesman, Idowu Adelusi, the governor made the comments during a gathering in Ado Ekiti.

“Some people have been making overtures to me to join the APC, but I cannot join them. With what have they repaid somebody like Asiwaju Tinubu? He worked and helped the party to secure victory but has been dumped. That is not a party I would be interested in joining,” Fayose said according to the statement.
“One thing I would not allow is for anybody to rubbish our leaders in the South-West. Our leaders, including Asiwaju Tinubu, must be accorded their due respect, as any attempt to rubbish them will be taken as a slap on the entire Yoruba race,” he added.

Fayose had earlier said that he would not leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), but even if he decided to, it wouldn’t be to the APC, which he described as the “Red Sea.”

#OndoDecides: APC says Tinubu’s absence at the rally made no difference

Following Tinubu’s absence at the just concluded APC party rally in Ondo State ahead of the governorship election scheduled to hold this Saturday, the Governor of Plateau state, Solomon Lalong, chairperson of APC Governorship Campaign in the State, has affirmed that the absence of  Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and some Southwest governors at the party’s mega rally in Akure on Saturday did not make any difference.
He said that there was no cause for alarm since President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, were present at the rally.

While addressing State House correspondents on Monday shortly after a meeting with the Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Lalong stated that the absence of the party bigwigs was not a problem to the party.
Ondo Election: APC says Tinubu’s absence at the rally made no difference
In his words: “That (their absence) was not a problem. We explained their absence. They sent in their apologies. You heard what happened there.
“As far as we are concerned, the President who is the leader of the party was at the rally. The national chairman was also there. As far as we are concerned, everybody was there.
“To the party, their absence did not make any difference. If a leader was not there and he has said he was not there because of ill-health, we have prayed that God will heal him.”
The APC Governorship Campaign Chairman went on to express optimism that the APC would emerge victorious in the election billed to hold this Saturday.
