6 Beauty Mistakes That Make You Look Older

What is it about makeup that can completely warp our perception of age? When you were younger, you probably caked on foundation, concealer, and tons of eyeliner to appear older for that jock you were crushing on, the movie attendant collecting stubs for the R-rated movie you were dying to see, or maybe even a waiter at your favorite restaurant. Once you hit your twenties and thirties, however, the tables turn and you begin searching for the fountain of youth.

There are things we can do to appear younger, like staying hydrated and moisturizing. There are also some things we unknowingly do that make us appear older. The next time you apply makeup, make sure to avoid the six mistakes.

1. Wearing heavy black eyeliner

Coating your eyes with mascara and liner is a great way to make them pop, but that doesn’t mean you should go crazy. Putting on too much eyeliner — especially if you’re using a heavy black mixture — won’t do you any favors. “Our eyelashes thin out as we get older, and women sometimes try to overcompensate for that with lots of black makeup,” dermatologist and cosmetic surgeon Melanie Grossman, MD, told Health. “All that does, though, is draw attention to the wrinkles around your eyes.” Instead, try your luck with a dark brown or grey liner — and use it sparingly. After all, makeup isn’t face paint; it’s there to enhance your natural features.

2. Piling on the foundation

Foundation is great way to cover up any pesky blemishes or fine lines, but caking it on will definitely age you. Not only does too much foundation make your skin look flaky, all that makeup is bound to wreak havoc on your skin.

If you want to treat your skin problems, focus on your skin care products instead. A tinted moisturizer, for example, will keep your skin hydrated and give your face a subtle sheen. It’s also worth noting several moisturizers have anti-aging properties, so they can likely give your skin a youthful glow.

 3. Wearing blush

As archaic as it may seem, some people stillrouge their cheeks. They’ll apply blush to give their skin a healthy glow, but when used incorrectly, it can have the opposite effect. And similar to overdosing on foundation, powder blush can make your skin look flaky. Depending on the shade  you’re using, blush can look more costumey than stylish. If you really want to emphasize your cheeks, Health recommends applying a bronzer from your hairline to your jawline, followed by adding a small amount of cream blush to the apples of your cheeks.

4. Ignoring their brows

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: Your eyebrows matter. They’re the first things a person notices on your face, and they can easily play up or down the rest of your facial features. While maintaining your brows with a tweeze, wax, or threading session is important, you shouldn’t ignore them when you’re applying makeup to the rest of your face.

Elle shows just how important your brows are by featuring two pictures of the same woman, one of her with defined brows and the other with her natural brows. Not only did defining her brows brighten up her face, but it also took the attention away from the fine lines around her eyes. Adding a lightweight pomade or pencil to your brows is easy and cost-effective, so don’t skip this step.

5. Wearing bright eyeshadow

Incorporating some color to your look — whether it’s with a fun lip, unconventional nails, or a printed dress — is a great way to add a jolt of energy to your attire. But the one place we don’t want to see color, however, is on your eyelids. We don’t care what the trend of the moment is, sweeping your lids with a bright blue or yellow shadow will look like you’re stuck in the 1980s. A neutral eye shadow is a fail-safe option. If you need a look for date night and parties, a smokey eye is a great alternative.

6. SPORTING A DARK LIPSblonde woman in a bright coat and dark lip

While we’re on the subject of wearing the wrong color, let’s talk about your lips. Though a dark brown or Bordeaux pout is extremely trendy, it’s bound to age you a couple of years. According to Elle, these seductive hues only make your lips look smaller, less defined, and inevitably more haggard. A lighter pink, mauve, or neutral hue will keep your pout looking plump. If you’re not willing to part ways with the darker hue, opt for a sheer lipstick. That way, you’re still getting the dramatic flair but the color itself isn’t as obvious.

AGAIN? Miss Anambra Contest Ends Without A Winner As Contestant Couldn’t Answer Basic Questions

JUST when we thought we have heard the last of Miss Anambra beauty pageant mess, after the harried one concerning Miss Anambra 2015 winner, Chidinma Okeke and the Anambra Broadcasting Services, the Yuletide has served us another juicy one from Nnewi, from same Anambra State.

This happened last Friday, December 30, 2016 at the Ifeanyi Uba’s sponsored Nnewi Youths Fiesta where all the sixteen contestants for the Miss Nnewi beauty pageant were disqualified for failing to answer basic current affairs questions correctly.
The gathering was thoroughly pissed for the inability of the contestants to answer questions like who the founder of the Dr. Ifeanyi Uba foundation is; What they would do if they become the president of Nigeria; and Who the president of Nigeria is? A contestant excitedly told the gathering that the current president of the Federal Republic is Dr. Muhammadu Buhari.
Most said, ‘No Idea.’ Yet these are supposed to be undergraduates!
Intelligence quotient At the end of the exercise, E-Daily learnt there was no winner as it was a brazen embarrassment to the sensibilities of not only the organizers but the state as a whole.
“The organizers of the event should please, try and test the intelligence quotient of would-be contestants before bringing them out for public parade. Or else, the embarrassment will continue as the state itself has not recovered from the cucumber saga,” a guest observes.
At the end of the day, no winner was declared as the organisers were thoroughly embarrassed. The car prize meant for the winner had to be taken away.

The Reason Why Your Skincare Products Is NOT Effective + Product Review; Eden Apricot Scrub - Lydia's Chronicle

Hello,
How is your week going? Good I hope!
This is my first my product review post,yay!
I chose to review a body scrub because exfoliation is a very important part of general skincare routine for all skin types.
I used to suffer from dull unhealthy skin,until I learnt about exfoliation some years back. It amazes me,how most people still don’t know how important it is to incorporate exfoliation into their skincare routine.
Exfoliation is the removal of the dead skin cells sitting on the skin’s outermost surface.
image
This means that when you don’t exfoliate, all the skin treatments,lotions,serums etc that you use are just going on top of the dead cells and not penetrating into your skin. Little wonder why you feel like those products don’t work.
Here’s a practical illustration;
Bola and Bisi are friends.
Bola exfoliates regularly, Bisi doesn’t .
Bola and Bisi use the same body lotion at same time.
Bola is likely to get better results than Bisi. This because the product  penetrates through Bola’s skin. While it stays on top of Bisi’s dead skin cells.
Same product, exfoliation/no-exfoliation, different results…. you get?
However you should avoid over exfoliating.
There are various ways to exfoliate the skin and the use of body scrubs is one of them.
Please note; Exfoliation is not limited to the females alone, therefore body scrubs are essential for both men and women.
So now we dive into the product review….

MY REVIEW
This scrub comes in two cup sizes,the big one 474g, and the small one 227g/8 oz.
I got the small size which happens to be 8 oz.
How I use:
1. I rinse my face with warm(not hot) water.
2. I don’t dry my skin after rinsing,I just apply product and massage in a circular motion (you don’t need too much product to do the work).
3. I leave for like 5-10 mins (personal choice)
4. I rinse off the product with warm water
5. Then pat dry and moisturize
Observations:
Well my face feels clean and smooth. It doesn’t strip my face of any moisture whatsoever,but rather reveals a fresh  smooth skin.
~~~> Pros
• It keeps to its promise stated earlier.
(I don’t know about the removing of blackheads part because I don’t have black heads) but it did exfoliate my skin real well.
• It is mild,therefore suitable for most skin types.
• It is economical and budget-friendly
You can this small size(227g) for #500-#700 depending on where you’re buying it, it’s available in most stores. However it’s about #1500-#3000 online (I wonder why things are ridiculously expensive online).
• It is not limited to the face. I use on my body,even on my lips. Yass!
~~~>Cons
• I don’t really like the packaging (it’s not sealed). But when I compare the pricing to how well the product works, I think I can cope with the packaging.
In CONCLUSION;
This product is really worth buying,I have no regrets at all. This is actually the second cup I’m using. I’m getting addicted to this scrub,because it works well,and it’s really making me reluctant to try another.
image
PS; I noticed that the ingredients are quite similar to that of St.Ivesapricot scrub.
Disclaimer:
I am neither a skin therapist nor a cosmetologist.
I only make research,use products and evaluate based on observations on MY skin.
What is your take on exfoliation? Have you ever used this product? Do you think you’d give it a try? I’d like to know your thoughts….

Natural ways to get fuller lips

Every lady wants full lips and we totally understand why. It’s not only beautiful but also bring out the best of your lip makeup. But while there’s no permanent way to increase the lip size, you do have some short and long term opportunities to do such a thing with the help of either exercise or some neat treatments that can prove very helpful in this regard.
One of the best things here is to start with a lip care treatment. You will need to exfoliate your lips and remove the dead skin cells in order to allow your lips to grow and have a better appearance. Brushing your lips with a toothbrush in order to remove the dead skin from them is a good and helpful exercise in this regard. Alongside that, wearing make-up will also make your lips look bigger, and this will provide the necessary effect that is needed in order to stand out in just about any type of situation. Try to add some liner as well.
Alongside that, you might also want to remove any chemical lip plumpers, instead, you should try to opt for natural remedies instead, as these are much more helpful as well, which is very important to know. We recommend you to use things such as cinnamon essential oil, peppermint essential oil as well as oil based on cayenne. This will help you a lot, although you do need to pay extra care when it comes to using large quantities, as these can have a negative effect on your health, so use that with caution.
On top of that, you might also want to perform lip exercises on a regular basis. This is a great method if you want to get bigger lips in a natural manner, as these exercises are great in toning up the facial muscles that you don’t really use on a normal basis. Some good exercises here are whistling, smiling, kissing, but if you really want some exercises, you should try to move the lips from side to side and then rotate in order to get an amazing effect!
There’s also the possibility to use some lip make-up in order to get this effect, but you do need to remember that using natural products will provide you with a better chance in this regard, so it’s important to use makeup with caution, because using too much might be a little dangerous in the end.
All in all, these are the best methods that you can use in order to get bigger lips in a natural manner. Follow the tips above in order to increase the appeal of your lips without recurring to surgery or any other type of external help, as you can do this on your own, you just need commitment!
