EVENT: Keexs; Style and Culture

Keexs, an African inspired unisex footwear brand is set to launch its latest collection, IBILE in a one of a kind arts and style exhibition.
Themed ‘’Style and Culture”, the exhibition will showcase never seen before footwear concepts as created by the brands founder, Jide Ipaye.
As the name depicts, IBILE means local, native or heritage in Yoruba and is also an acronym for the 5 founding regions in Lagos - Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island and Epe. The event is expected to attract fashion and arts enthusiasts as well as indigenous designers across the continent.
Regarded as the first innovative and social footwear brand in Africa, KEEXS was successfully launched through a global crowdfunding campaign in 2015. Since inception, KEEXS has been featured on numerous platforms such as Origin Africa (Madagascar), The African Fashion Week Nigeria, Heineken Lagos Fashion Week, eNCA news, TV5Monde, Ebony Life TV, South African Fashion Week and CNN African Voices. KEEXS continues to grow as one of the top “athleisure” brands in Africa.

Inspired by different aspects of the Yoruba and Lagos culture; IBILE promises to bring a fresh urban feel to any outfit and evoke nostalgic feelings brought by the typical traditional, western designs infused with epic colours and prints.
The event will feature elements of music, dance and drama by the renowned Ronya Man Arts Company as well as a live art showcase making it the perfect environment for culture, lifestyle and art lovers.

Nigerian Shoe Brand Keexs, collaborates with South African Designer for SA Fashion Week

The first innovative and social footwear brand in Africa, Keexs and South African based Afrikanswiss (Africa's premier denim brand) recently collaborated on a new collection for South African Fashion Week 2017.

Showcased at the Hyde Park corner in Johannesburg on the 31st of March; the new Spring/Summer 2017 collection, "Naija man in Soweto" tells the story of a modern merge of cultures, with interesting pieces like the denim ‘fila’ to the denim embroidered ‘buba’, it’s safe to say that there’s no limit to the creativity of African fashion designers.

The Keexs sneaker collection with art curated by self-taught artist Lemi Ghariokwu, draws inspiration and pays tribute to the legendary Fela Anikulapo – Kuti, a Nigerian multi-instrumentalist, musician, composer, pioneer of the Afrobeat music genre, human rights activist and political maverick who has inspired millions of people all over the world.

The Afrikanswiss collection fused Nigerian traditional wear with pantsula street wear. Pantsula, a highly energetic dance originated in the black townships of South Africa during the Apartheid era. It developed into a form of social commentary for black South Africans and although it has undergone several transformations with the country's changing political tides it still stays relevant till today.

Nigeria and South Africa could be likened to the Biblical Aaron and Moses, endowed with the responsibility of bringing Africa out from the bondage of despair, decline and underdevelopment. As regional powers, history has imposed on them the enormous task of finding solutions to some of the most pressing African concerns.

The Keexs and Afrikanswiss collection will be available in select retail stores in Nigeria and South Africa by Spring 2017

Is this the best Adidas boots ever?

There’s no doubt that adidas has successfully conquered the higher end of the sneaker market with its popular UltraBOOST, Yeezy Boost and NMD releases.

However it seems the German sportswear giant is ramping up its effort to make its affordable alternatives more stylish as well, most notably the AlphaBOUNCE and Cloudfoam Ultra Zen which retail for $100 USD and $60 USD respectively.

Thanks to Instagram user @sneakerprophet_ it looks like the former is making a return in a tonal beige makeup following the release of a “Blackout” pair last month. We will keep you posted with any updates regarding the release of this “Beige” AlphaBOUNCE.
